If your brain was a jungle your memories would be like villages in the jungle, and your thoughts like paths connecting the villages. Villages close to each other can develop into a town. And paths traveled frequently for some time develop into highways. But if the towns are not maintained and if the highways become unused, the force of nature will bring everything back to a jungle.
Thoughts that follow a path will easily get lost in the jungle on their way from one village to another. But thoughts that travel along a highway travel so fast and unhindered that you will think of nothing else until your thought has reached its destination. An example of creating a highway is if you repeat a movement some thousand times. And creating a new city is, for example, learning a new language.
